🟡 Tip of the Day with Chinese Medicine ✅

⏱ Traditional Chinese Time Clock 🕰

⏰ Traditional Chinese Medicine has a twenty-four-hour system based on the circadian rhythm. This theory teaches that 24 hours are divided into Yin and Yang where the Yin is represented by the nighttime and the Yang by daytime. This paradigm not only divides the day in 12 hours that are Yin and the others 12 Yang, but it also allocates slots of 2 hours for each meridian. Therefore, the circadian rhythm according to TCM will look something like this...

🕒 3 - 5 am: Yin time, deep sleep, LU opens allowing fresh energy. A great refreshing and energizing sleep is achieved when the LV perfuses blood to the LU during sleep.

🕔 5 - 7 am: Yang time. Large Intestine time.  Poetically, during this time the skies open. This is the best time for a vowel movement, and it can be assisted by drinking warm water. Regular bowel movements strengthen the LU.

🕖 7 - 9 am: Yang time. Stomach time. Breakfast time. This time slot is the most important one. Having breakfast allows the brain and heart to receive Qi and Blood for proper functioning throughout the day.

🕘 9 - 11 am: Yang time. SP time. Slowdown. During this time, the body sends all its energy for digestion, and it is recommended some gentle activity or exercise. This is the best time for drinking water; it assists the body in distributing Qi and Blood.

🕚 11 am - 1 pm: Yang time. HT time. The body is getting ready to transition to a Yin time. This is the best time for taking a nap or relaxing.

🕐 1 - 3 pm: Yang time. SI time. This time of transition and changes is important. It is where the SI receives the digested food from the SP and sends Qi and Blood to the LU and HT while the waste is directed to the LI and UB.

🕒 3 - 5 pm: Yin time. UB time. Wastewater. This is a wonderful time for replenishing our fluid intake and assists the UB in disposing wastewater through urination.

🕔 5 - 7 pm: Yin time. KI time. This period is where we usually have dinner. Salt or salty food should be avoided so we don't damage our Qi.

🕖 7 - 9 pm: Yin time. PC time. Entertainment phase. This is the time at which it is advisable for relaxation and preparation for bedtime.

🕘 9 - 11 pm: Yin time. SJ time. Warming up period. During this cycle, the body warms up, prepares, and reset. Is the time when the body tunes the organs and hormones in the body. This is the best time to keep yourself warm and soak your feet in warm water.

🕚 11 pm - 1 am: Yin time. GB time. Transitioning to Yang starts. The emulsified molecules are spread throughout the whole body assisting in proper Qi and Blood functioning. The SI and bone marrow are specially targeted during this period.

🕐1 am - 3 am: Yin time. LV time. Deep Sleep. REM sleep. During this cycle, the LV detoxifies the body, stores bile, and sends Qi and Blood to the LU securing this way a restful and energizing sleep. Drinking alcohol disrupts this cycle and prevents a good night's sleep.
